Christian Broda: Accomplished Economist and Author

Christian Broda, an accomplished economist and writer, with numerous books and articles on national and international finance/trade, is a Managing Director at Duquesne Capital Management in New York City.

Broda earned his B.A. with Summa Cum Laude honors from Universidad de Andres in January 1997. From there, he went to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he earned his M.A. in Economics in May 1999, and his Ph.D in Economics in June 2001.

His first big experience in the world of high finance came in September 2001, when he would become a member of the International Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, holding this position until 2004.

In 2005, he brought his talents to the University of Chicago, becoming an Associate Professor of Economics, a post he held until 2008. That year, he was promoted to Tenured Professor of Economics at the Univ. of Chicago, while taking a position as Chief International Economist at Lehman Brothers/Barclays Capital. He would remain in this position until 2009.

In 2010, Broda left his position as professor, moving back to New York, taking his Managing Director position at Duquesne Capital Management, where he’s currently employed.

Broda’s experience includes being Associate Editor for the Journal of Development Economies, from 2006 to present. Also in 2006, he became a Faculty Research Fellow with the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), a position he currently holds. In addition, he is an Associate Editor with IMF Economic Review, and is a member of the Latin American Association Economica journal.

Broda, a married father of 2 sons, is a member of the Society for Economic Dynamics, the American Economic Association, the Econometric Society, the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association, and the Economia Journal.

He has a featured profile in ValueWalk and his research, which has been published in leading economic journals like the Quarterly Journal of Economics and the American Economic Review, has earned him 2 National Science Foundation (NSF) grants to support his research, in 2005 and 2008.
