At that time, he was impressed with this high-energy person who is a coach as well as a recruiter.

During his final season, Yanni Hufnagel had helped Golden Bears in posting a 23-11 record overall. This led them to be seeded at No. 4 in the NCAA Tournament. This has been the highest for California ever in the program. Also, he was responsible for recruiting a top 5 recruiting class. This was in 2015. It featured Jaylen Brown along with Ivan Rabb.
